Selected costumes from plays presented in the Asolo Repertory Theatre and engravings of Boydell's Shakespeare print series will be on display in an exhibit, “The Art of Costume,” at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF). An opening reception is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, at SCF Bradenton 5840 26th St. West in the Fine Art Gallery, building 11 North. The reception is free and open to the public.
“The Art of the Costume” will feature 20 costumes designed exclusively for productions at the Asolo Repertory Theatre. In addition, a series of 15 engravings from the SCF Collection of John Boydell’s famous print series depicting scenes, actors and costumes from Shakespeare’s plays will be on display.
Fine art exhibit dates are Oct. 2 – Nov. 5. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call gallery manager Joe Loccisano at 941-752-5225.
