Holiday Artists "Arts Day" at Art Uptown Dec. 12th '09

Artist demonstrations will be conducted all day on Saturday, Dec. 12, at Art Uptown on lower Main Street, Sarasota. The public is invited to observe member artists of the gallery as they work. Painting and clay demonstrations are scheduled from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Art Uptown is Sarasota’s oldest cooperative fine art gallery, continuously exhibiting the works of local artists for over 27 years, related Igrid Petri, Gallery Manager. The nearly 30 members cover the creative gamut – from paintings, photography and digital art to fine art pottery, unique ceramic works, sculpture, fiber art, mixed media and works in wood and stained glass, she said.

The gallery, which is featuring a Holiday Gift Array with smaller-size works of art during December, is located at 1367 Main St., between Palm and Pineapple avenues. Hours are Monday-Friday 11-5 and Saturday 10-4. The monthly First Friday Gallery Walk is always a popular time at Art Uptown, since many of the artists are at the gallery to discuss their work.
