During the course of the demonstration, artist and teacher, Ron Sanders, shows a common method for progressively building an oil painting through the following stages: 1.) composition 2.) drawing 3.) value 4.) color 5.) texture and 6.) detail. Ron discusses the reasons for this progression and its benefits, as well as use of a temperature based palette, analysis of color by hue, temperature, value and chroma, color mixing, brush use, and paint application. This video was produced to introduce beginning to intermediate oil painters to an easy and systematic approach to painting that allows for seeing the whole, judging relationships, and making changes throughout the painting process.
