Tune in this Thursday when I interview the legendary
Stephen J. Cannell
about his new book, On The Grind

Yes, the godfather of more than forty TV series, including The Rockford Files, Baretta, The A-Team, 21 Jump Street, The Great American Hero, The Commish, Hunter and Wiseguy, is coming to Sarasota!
He'll be signing his latest book, On The Grind, the eighth in Cannell's series featuring rule-bending LAPD detective Shane Scully, at a dinner here on Thursday night.
A private reception will take place at 5:30 p.m. at Kobernick House, with dinner to follow. The second part of this evening will consist of a talk, Q&A and signing.

But I'll be chatting with him one-on-one on his drive down here!
So tune into Talk of the Sun Coast on Thursday, January 29 at 3.05 pm on 1220 AM to hear me chat live with Stephen J. Cannell!

Myrtle Masten & Hereditary Angioedema
I interviewed a very interesting lady last week - Myrtle Masten suffers from a rare blood disorder called Hereditary Angioedema, which only affects one person out of every 50,000.
I also invited Dr. Hugh Windom of Sarasota Memorial Hospital to discuss Myrtle's plight.
In 2008 she suffered an attack:

Artist Series of Sarasota
FIRST FRIENDS GALA, "A COURT A-FARE"
Tuesday February 3, 2009 - 5:45 PM, The Meadows Country Club

A GRAND GALA GATHERING OF FRIENDS
The Artist Series FRIENDS is hosting its very first fundraising gala on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009 at the Meadows Country Club. "A Court-A-Fare", as the event is dubbed, will be a night of musical fun and surprises. I'll be your Court Jester and Master of Ceremonies!
The gala will commence at 5:45. The courtly theme unfolds in a setting that will be transformed into a regal castle of knights and their fine ladies. Cocktails will be followed by an elegant four-course meal. Surprise guest artists will provide musical interludes throughout the evening.
The grand finale will include a spectacular musical dessert, designed to bring this royal evening to a courtly and rousing close. Fine music, creative food, and convivial people in elegant surroundings set the stage for an evening where FRIENDship can flourish.
Artist Series founder Lee Dougherty Ross, Gala Chair Patricia Anderson and FRIENDS President Janice Landauer look forward to seeing you!
Tickets for A Court-A-Fare can be obtained by calling 941-504-4729.

Janice Landauer and Pat Anderson will be my guests in the studio on Tuesday, January 27, from 3.34 thru 4 pm!

Sarasota British Club
What kind of a Brit would I be if I didn't occasionally give a plug to my fellow country-men and -women here in Sarasota? New President Sue Ford invited British Club members and their families to an authentic British garden fete on Saturday, complete with cup cakes, brownies, hamburgers and hot dogs (well, almost authentic!).
They are always looking out for new members, so if you feel a hankering towards us Brits or are curious as to our history and heritage, culinary delights and idiosyncracies, join the club and get to know a fine group (I heartily recommend their Christmas "do", for example!).
The club has its own website and newsletter (we love you, Rose), so bookmark one and subscribe to the other: www.sarasotabritishclub.com.

Artichokes and Lemonade, anyone?
One such British Club member is the lovely Amy Frysinger Croshaw, who, together with her better webmaster half James, keeps a blog containing a collection of recipes inspired by her life on the Gulf Coast, England, and from various travels.
I should definitely get Amy together with my friend Judi Gallagher!
Every time I visit Amy's blog, I end up feeling hungry - I hope it has the same effect on you!

Sarasota Magazine
The February issue of Sarasota Magazine is just out, featuring Chapter 4 of Robert Plunket's new mystery series Decorating Can Be Murder, in which Sarasota's real estate crisis hits home for designer Timothy Spryke. You can find an excerpt on my website at CliffRoles.com, in which Timothy attends a celebrity fashion show that I am emceeing!
In other stories, Bob's alter-ego Mr. Chatterbox learns how to speak to his dog Pee Wee, and bestselling crime novelist Leslie Glass peers into the rich and famous at the Powel Crosley Estate.
