Primarily a muralist, specializing in Trompe L'oeil techniques, my preference is in creating site specific murals, especially those in public view. I'm also adept at graphic design including web site creation, working primarily in Photoshop.

The things I like most about the Sarasota/Manatee area
Well...if I have to be in Florida, I think Sarasota is the place to be, although other towns are catching up quickly with regards to the arts.
My Interests & Hobbies
Computer stuff (games), sports (football and racing).
My Favorite Local Restaurant
Lavanda & Five Guys Burgers & Fries
My Favorite Place to Experience the area the Way Locals Do
Hmmmm...I suppose that would have to be the beach....pick any of them.
My Favorite Local Event(s)
Arts Day.....too bad that last group running it ran it into the ground. Same with the Reading Festival...so much for business people knowing what they are doing.
Almost any of the art walks.....Towles Court (of course), Palm Ave, Main Street and Burns Court. Problem is, like any venue like these anywhere else, they become ruined by run-of-the-mill business's taking over.
Long ago....don't recall how I found it or if they found me:-) I think they found me, painting a mural on Mariana Cotton's wall on Pineapple Ave....:-)
A few weeks ago, I was privileged to be one of eight decorative artists from around the country invited to spend a week at the Hermitage on Manasota Key. The Hermitage is an artist retreat, which was originally started by the Sarasota Ar… Continue
Hi Skip, when I saw you online, I just had to send a note - your site is incredible - of course why wouldn't it be. I miss our talks over the fence - we used to have a great conversations didn't we? I have managed to send photo's to my site. Thought you'd be proud of me. I'm not the greatest computer person as you know. Hope all is going good for you - lots of painting to do.
hi,, jim said he hooked up with you , thats cool. I hope you guys can work together and begin something for future work. he does alot of stuff so maybe it'll work out. have you come across any of my stuff yet ? Su said she could try to come by and take some pictures for me. I call myself an artist and have done so much, yet keep no record. bad me. I've been getting work throught Stuctural Preservation, just finished the job for volusia county and am looking at a job in Okechobee, the Historical Court House. My friend John (he's now my agent, I have to add him in on my bill when he gets me jobs, is that funny now. i have an agent.) if its ok with you i'd like to put something of yours in with my package, so if something involves what you do best, they can call you, is that ok ?
I'm also going to be looking at the Cosley Mansion ( or crosley, the one on 41 near the airport), I'm not sure what they want.
let me know what you think about it.

hi skip, I miss seeing you. I'm so excited with all the people I've seen here, and you. Your work is the best . I'm very proud to be your friend and when someone asks me, " Where did you learn that ?" I 'd say my friend Skip. Then I would have to tell them about your studio, or show off one of your flyers. I was working in my back yard the other day and found a red string hahging to the ground from a plant. It looked like one of your paintings so I've desided to keep the string in the yard.
love you,
rilla

thanks for responding..........Charlie Badders gave me my artistic wings...he was my art instructor in elementary and jr high. In the 70's we were represented by the same gallery in PA but I've since lost track of him.
