DAY PLAYERS

Security Guard
Age 60s-80s. Could be male or female.
Could be a man or woman in his/her 60s or 70s, or even 80s. The type of person who retired 20 years ago but has just re-entered the workforce because their benefits are running out. (1 day – May 14)

Real estate agent
Age 40s. Female. Really attractive. Should have a strong and positive demeanor – confident, secure, a very nice (almost TV anchor) smile, but with eyes that are deeper and more substantial. Someone who lived through hard years and bad decisions in her 20s and 30s (a bad marriage, too much drinking, etc.) but in her 40s she has gotten her life together as a single, successful career woman. (1 day - May 16)

Boys at the pool
Caucasian, age 7-12, distinctively good-looking and wholesome, or eccentric class clown types. Brothers welcome. One of the kids jumps in the pool. (1 or 2 days - May 12, possibly May 13)

NY Businessmen
Age 40s-50s. Male. Corporate types. Must be comfortable appearing in scene shot on airplane. Paranoid about losing their jobs but covering it with professional demeanor. When not talking business, they can get lost in their own worlds checking iPhones/Blackberries. (1 or 2 days – May 18, possibly May 19)

Hotel Valet
Age 20s-30s. Hispanic. He has a quiet look and feeling about him. (1 day)

EXTRAS

Caucasian, male and female, age 60s and older, background roles but prominently featured in several scenes.
Also seeking families, age 30s-40s, with young kids with a middle-America look. (3 or 4 days, does not need to be same actors but recurring background are welcome)

Pool Attendant
Scrawny late-teenager. First summer job kind of thing. Hispanic kid would work well. (1 day – May 12)

“The Jonestown Defense” is a movie about the emotional lives of men, and how four men – caught in the midst of troubled relationships – struggle to redeem their flaws while getting their bearings on how to find happiness.

SYNOPSIS
In the tradition of Husbands and Carnal Knowledge, The Jonestown Defense is a movie about the emotional lives of men, and how four men – caught in the midst of troubled relationships – struggle to redeem their flaws while getting their bearings on how to find happiness. We start with Christopher, a salesman working in Sarasota for a large food distribution company, whose ego has gotten away from him. After selling corporate secrets to a local school headmaster in return for favors, Christopher learns that his company is sending someone to investigate the crime; if Christopher is caught, he’ll go to jail. Complicating this problem is that Christopher’s old friend and food sales mentor Frank is visiting from New York, and Frank – it seems – is being blamed for Christopher’s insider trading. As Christopher tries to make these problems go away – in the midst of his wife having left him – he meets Anthony, a man with a mysterious and tragic past, who becomes a fast friend – and savior – to Christopher. As the corporate investigator Timms arrives in Florida, the fates of the four men collide, changing some of the men for the worse, and some for the better.

I wanted to give you an advanced heads up on a great event and opportunity for actors in the Sarasota area. Lori Wyman, CSA and owner of Wyman Casting in Miami and I have teamed up for a special weekend workshop the last weekend in May. I am coordinating things and will let you know(if you want) more details as they become available. The first thing I can tell you is that Lori will be doing a booksigning (The Organic Actor - Secrets to Auditioning for Film and TV) starting at 6:30PM at Sarasota News & Books in downtown Sarasota on May 29. She will also be doing the workshop for two whole days on Auditioning as well. This is limited to 16 actors as there will be a lot of on camera work. Lori is keeping the price the same as her price in Miami - $275 for the workshop. I am working on a good location as I write this.
Here is more info on Lori Wyman:

Lori Wyman, an Emmy award nominee and ARTIOS award winning casting director and author, is committed to helping actors achieve their dreams and goals of pursuing their passion for acting. A member of the Casting Society of America, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and the National Speakers Association she is considered one of the top casting directors in the entire Southeastern United States. Most recently she cast the Emmy winning HBO movie entitled, "RECOUNT," and the coming of age "Bart Got A Room" starring William H. Macy. She did the Florida casting for "Marley and Me" which was the number one Christmas 2008 film, the new Jim Carrey movie entitled "I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS," the Sam Mendes project entitled "Farlanders," and she did some casting on the George Clooney movie, "Men Who Stare at Goats." Lori continues to cast top notch projects shooting in and around Florida to help actors continue to follow their passion.
Her book: "The Organic Actor, Insider's Secrets to Auditioning for Film and Television" is now available through authorhouse.com, amazon.com

If you have any questions or just don't want to hear from me anymore, let me know.

Best,
Patrick McCall
