Local (or other) Sources for Grants

  • Rating: No Rating
Does anyone have tips on good local sources for grants for individual artists? Specifically: commissioning fees for new musical compositions?

The information on the Sarasota Arts Council website isn't helpful (or encouraging for an individual artist) in my opinion.

Thanks-

Jay,

Have you thought about forming a nonprofit corporation? This would be the typical vessel for arts/education related tax free entities that are allowed to recieve tax deductable donations.

Perhaps an original film score is needed for a local independent film. Another Idea might be FedBizOps, get into the Govt procurement chain and maybe you can land a tour with the USO.

You've got a tough question there. Personally I'd try the got-it-alone method, get something recorded and published, then sell it on the internet until there's enough money to sustain more activity.

I don't know if any of this was helpful, but good luck!
