VENICE MAGAZINE Open Call for Short Stories

Venice Magazine, the intelligent editorial voice of South Sarasota County and beyond, announces an ongoing open call for fiction short stories to be published in the magazine. We will publish up to one short story every issue; not all stories submitted will be published.

Requirements:
- Word Count: Up to 2000, but less is more! We will automatically reject any story longer than 2000 words.
- Fiction only, any topic and style that is appropriate for a general audience
- First run or limited previous run only (please specify)
- Residents of the Gulf Coast of Florida preferred, with special preference given to residents of Sarasota County

Submissions:
- Submit with your name, age, and address (if a student, please state your school)
- Please feel free to also submit any recommended illustrations, photography, images, etc.
- Submit by email or mail (though email is preferred):

The editorial team of Venice Magazine reserves the exclusive right to select which short stories among those submitted will be published and when. Venice Magazine will notify you if your submission is selected for publication. Venice Magazine does not promise or offer any compensation for any short story publication or submission, but the author shall retain ownership of the copyright to the short story.
