SARASOTA, FL – The Sarasota Choral Society announces its 73rd consecutive annual production of the Christmas portion of George Frideric Handel’s Messiah: A Sacred Oratorio at the Church of the Palms Presbyterian Church, 3224 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, on Saturday, December 9, 2017, 4:00 pm.

The performance will feature a chamber orchestra of select musicians many of whom are principal players from the Sarasota Orchestra, organ accompaniment, four world-class soloists, and The Sarasota Choral Society chorus. Special appearance by the Sarasota Young Voices.

Led by Artistic Director Geneviève Beauchamp, the organization has been favorably compared with other such productions from major metropolitan areas. “We are pleased to present Sarasota’s traditional long-standing “kick-off” to the Holiday Season in such a beautiful setting as Church of the Palms”, said Ms. Beauchamp. Featured vocal soloists this year are: Johanna Fincher, soprano; Robyn Rocklein, alto; Adam Bielamowicz, tenor; and Christopher Holloway, bass; as well as Dr. Jonathan Spivey returning on the organ.

Tickets will be sold for the performance ($25) and will be available at the Church of the Palms office (924-1323), Twice’s Nice (366-2188), and on the SCS website  Children and students: $10.
