The 11th annual artsHOP weekend will be celebrated on Anna Maria Island from November 9 —12. The central event of the weekend has always been the Holmes Beach Gallery Walk on Friday evening from 5-7:30 PM, and this year’s lineup will not disappoint, featuring original, local art, refreshments, art demonstrations, live music, art raffles, and a chance to meet the artists.
This year’s participating galleries include Island Gallery West where Marti Salerni will show her latest “Petal Away”-themed watercolor paintings, and Chip Ragsdale will entertain with his acoustic guitar. At SteamDesigns, local photographer Nick Donatelli’s work will be exhibited. The Artists' Guild of Anna Maria Island will show their members’ latest original art with many of the artists in attendance along with entertainment by local musicians. The Anna Maria Island Art League’s reception will conclude their juried all-media art exhibit, “Faces of Emotion,” with winners in attendance. Restless Natives will feature local artists Karen Prunier (“Reflections in Clay” demo); Patricia Clarke (Hot Glass demo); and new Restless Natives addition, “HowLuckyAMI." At Saltair, Holmes Beach artist Kim Darnell will show her latest oil paintings. And the new Gallery at the Waterfront, located in the lobby, will also join the event featuring well-known local artists Maro Lorimer, Deborah Webster, Jean Blackburn and Cory Wright. All locations will offer refreshments. And finally, those who visit all the galleries can have their “passports” stamped to be eligible for prize baskets of local, original art.
ArtsHOP is partially subsidized by Cultural Connections and benefits Anna Maria Island arts. This year’s sponsors include Anna Maria Vacations, Duncan Real Estate, Lapensee Plumbing, Sato Real Estate, Gagne Construction, Island Mail and More, Abrahamson Uiterwyk, Historic Green Village, Beach House, Island Coffee Haus, Egmont Key Adventures and Flip Flop Candy Shop.
